Living at Harpwood

All new residents are offered a trial period for settling in. On the first day, a key member of staff is allocated to help familiarize the resident with the home and introduces to other members of staff and residents. Our welcome pack given to the new residents is also very informative.

After discussions with the resident, relatives/friends and, if applicable, a social worker a care plans is developed to ensure we meet the care and social/spiritual needs. This care plan is reviewed on a monthly basis, or more frequently if a resident's condition changes. A full care review is also undertaken every six months which involves all key staff, the resident, family and other parties such as a Social Worker, doctors as appropriate. Subject to the resident's permission, relatives and friends are encouraged to contribute to any decisions made about care. Their contribution in giving enough information about the resident's past also helps identifying their likes and dislikes. Care Plans are always available for the residents to view.

Choice is paramount. Unless and otherwise the residents choose to stay with their own GPs and other professionals, or logistically not possible to do so, they are registered with the visiting GPs from our local surgery, dentists, opticians and other professionals. Note of any forth coming hospital or any other appointment is diarized by the Manager.

For those residents who are not self medicating, we administer their medication timely. We operate a very stringent medication policy. All our senior care workers have undertaken training in the administration of medication.
